The Window Screen Replacement Alternative
To make old window screens look brand new, all you need is a can of black spray paint (and some painter’s tape to tape off the frames)! We had a large cardboard box from a recent package delivery, so we used that put the window screen in and keep the overspray contained. You can use a large cardboard box like this If you don’t already have one lying around. I sprayed each side and then flipped them top to bottom and sprayed both sides again for full coverage. I would say I used about a half a can of spray paint for one screen. While I already knew having clean window screens really impacts the view through your windows, I did not realize just how much the screens fading from sun exposure over time makes them so much harder to see through!
The Cost of This Home Hack
The spray paint that I used costs $2.98 per can (about $3.24 with tax in my area). So in my case this window screen replacement alternative home hack costs about $1.62 per window. A little more if you include the cost of the painter’s tape you’ll need. That is well worth it for the improvement in the look of my window and the view outside!
